The 2011 BMW M3 Competition Package has been announced for the US market. It will not emulate the Europe-only GTS in terms of kit. Prices start at US$2,500 for the kit only.
The rumours turned out to be only half true. BMW has indeed announced a new Competition Package for the MY2011 M3, but the changes are not as sweeping as was first anticipated. Speculation was that an M3 GTS-like kit consisting of a front splitter, wing and wheels would make its way into the car for the US market.
The only changes mentioned as being included in the Competition Package in the official press release are a 10mm lower suspension, 19-inch wheels, a remapped Electronic Damping Control (EDC) and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) systems. After introducing these changes BMW says the package will help the M3 take the mantle as the best handling production M car ever.
The Competition Package is available for both M3 Coupes and sedans for the price of US$2,500.
