In one of the least surprising announcements of all time, Audi has confirmed the A1 will feature LED daytime driving lights.

Meant to resemble the "wings of an eagle," Audi says the lights "display decisiveness and concentration, similar to an athlete poised in the starting blocks - with a sparkle in the eyes." While that's probably taking it a bit too far, the lights looked decent enough when they were caught during a photo shoot with Justin Timberlake.

As you may recall, the A1 is a premium subcompact which is seen as a rival to the Mini Cooper. It is expected to go on sale later this year, with a targeted output of 80,000 units.

Engine options will likely include a 1.2-liter with 86 hp, a 1.4-liter with 122 hp, and a turbocharged 1.4-liter with 170 hp. On the diesel side, the A1 is expected to feature a 1.6-liter with 90 hp and 2.0-liter with 143 hp.

This teaser is only the second in a series of many more, leading up to the media release in February, followed by the public debut at the Geneva Motor Show.
