Audi may take another shot at an allroad quattro wagon for the US market. Audi debuted the new A4 allroad a few weeks ago for the European market. The Audi A4 allroad quattro will go on sale in Europe this summer with prices starting at 37,100 euros.
Audi may be bringing back the allroad quattro to North American shores after it pulled the model out of the market back in 2005.
Peter Schwarzenbauer, head of sales and marketing at Audi AG, said that since SUVs are no longer popular in the US and Canada the allroad quattro, an all-wheel drive wagon, may finally find a market.
Audi sold an A6-based version of the allroad from 2000 to 2005 in the North American market but was then forced to pull the vehicle from its lineup due to poor sales. In its last year the model sold just 2,429 units.
Schwarzenbauer doesn't say whether the allroad quattro Audi will sell in the US will be the A4 or A6 model or both. Given that cross-overs and wagons have become an option for customers who would have previously opted for an SUV, Audi may likely import both those models.
