Check out these clear spy pictures of the 2011 Porsche 911 Cabriolet. The car is based on the next generation 911 with the codename Type 998.

Last year the first spy pictures of the 2011 Porsche 911 were revealed. Now these very first images of the 911 Carrera Cabriolet have come out in the open. Our spies snapped this example during the night under very cold weather conditions. But they still managed to uncover the car under the black camouflage clothing.

From these pictures it seems Porsche is not taking the currently popular route of giving cabriolets/ convertibles an electronically-folding hard top. Instead the traditional canvass is the preferred choice for Porsche.

The spied model is based on the car codenamed Type 998 and will replace the current 997 range which has been in production since 2004. When it's launched some months after the 911 Carrera the Carrera Cabriolet will feature most of the same technologies as the coupe version. That means double-clutch PDK gearbox, more fuel-efficient boxer engines and PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) among others.
