F1's new and youngest ever world champion Lewis Hamilton is among the top five sportsmen of 2008, editors of the French sports daily L'Equipe have declared.

After assigning the sportsmen points for their achievements, the famous publication's more than 200 editors named Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt its twenty-eighth 'Champion of Champions'.

Bolt scored 832 points, ahead of American swimmer Michael Phelps (694), tennis number one Rafael Nadal (413), MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi (203) and McLaren driver Hamilton (162).
